At Fused Glass & More... my
specialty is one-of-a-kind fused and slumped glass items for both personal
adornment and the home. Many of my creations feature sparkling
accents of dichroic glass, adding brilliant highlights to each
piece.
I'm
Cindy Stalnaker, a fused glass & bead artist. I learned my
craft by studying with glass craftsmen in California, Italy, and
Sweden. I handcraft each item, designing and fabricating
in my studio in Laguna Beach, California.

I am also a direct importer of Czech art
glass and Czech glass beads from the old-world Bohemian factories of Jablonec-nad-Nisou and
Zelezny Brod in the Czech Republic.
My handcrafted fused
glass pieces start out with selection of a color scheme, then cutting,
shaping and fitting together of art glass, layer upon layer, up to 5
or more layers deep. Fragments of glass are arranged much like
a "vertical" mosaic pattern. Each piece is then kiln-fired to
1400-1500°F over a period of about four hours.
After the initial firing, pieces are re-shaped and "fire-polished" by firing a second
time, to remove any grinding performed (done to true-up a specific shape
or remove any rough edges).
